What’s it all about?

We are delighted to launch a 2nd Social Enterprise Accelerator.

We are delighted to launch a new Social Enterprise Accelerator.

Commencing January 2024, we’re offering a comprehensive 10-week programme featuring a mixture of face-to-face and online Zoom sessions.

These sessions are tailored to support ambitious South Lanarkshire based Social Enterprises or constituted Enterprising Third Sector Organisations, who are keen to achieve growth and/or further develop their services.

Participants will receive a wealth of insight and support from our industry experts, across different themed workshops and one-to-ones. All sessions are structured to help you identify and apply the necessary changes that your organisation and the community you serve, need to thrive.

Throughout the accelerator, we guide you in creating bespoke action plans that will help take your organisation to the next level.

As the programme concludes, we host our last face-to-face session to reflect, discuss and exchange your identified actions, with fellow participants.

You’ll leave the accelerator with newfound knowledge, a variety of different approaches to use, and a supportive network of like-minded individuals, to further grow your Social Enterprise.

How it works

Expert-themed Workshops & 1:1s.

Expert-themed Workshops & 1:1s.

Each week you will participate in a different expert-themed workshop, with group sessions delivered by a specialist covering a specific theme.

Workshops are held on a Wednesday morning for Programme 2 – which begins in January 2024, through to the end of March – and each workshop will last for three hours. You will then have a follow-up 1:1 meeting with each theme expert. These are individual sessions scheduled for one hour, during the week of each workshop.

Most workshops are delivered via Zoom, with the exception of the first and last workshops, which are both held in-person at Hamilton Park Racecourse: https://hamilton-park.co.uk . We also provide a mid-programme workshop at Hamilton Park, as a break from Zoom.

  • Expert-themed workshops will help challenge and inspire you, bringing new insights and perspectives to your organisation.

  • 1:1 meetings will provide you with an opportunity to discuss and identify your specific issues with the each industry expert. They will support you and help you build a bespoke Action Plan for your organisation.

Timings.

You will have a one-to-one with each theme expert via Zoom. These will be scheduled for the week following each workshop and last one hour. Each expert will invite you to book a suitable session time online in advance.

Workshops 1 & 10 are in-person events and run from 9.30am to 2pm. All other workshops run 9.30am – 12.30pm on the designated day, with most being via Zoom.

An inspirent Team Member will then make contact with you to discuss a short application.

  • Closing date for applications is Friday 15th December 2023 at 12 noon.

  • Interviews will be online via Microsoft Teams over week commencing Monday 18th December 2023.

  • All applicants will be notified of the outcome on Wednesday 20th December 2023.

  • Programme 2 of the accelerator starts on Wednesday 10th January 2024 (0930hrs – 1400hrs) at Hamilton Park Racecourse, Bothwell Road, Hamilton, ML3 0DW.

Eligibility Criteria.

The accelerator is open to South Lanarkshire headquartered Social Enterprises and constituted Enterprising Third Sector Organisations, who operate from South Lanarkshire, and seek significant growth. Applicants must be organisational leaders.

If in business premises, your organisation must be registered with the Non-Domestic Rates Office within South Lanarkshire Council.
Applicants must not be involved in any activities such as gambling or other industries that could be deemed unethical.

Applicants are required to demonstrate they fit ONE of the following categories:

Social Enterprise

An organisation that aspires to be self-sufficient regarding income. For example:

  • Aspires to earn 50% or more of its income through trading.

  • Is registered / incorporated.

  • Has its social values written into its constitution.

  • Its surpluses and assets are used to support the social purpose and there is an asset lock.

Social enterprises include co-operatives, community businesses and trading businesses owned by charities.

Enterprising Third Sector Organisation

For example:

  • Delivers essential services, helps to improve people’s wellbeing and contributes to economic growth.

  • Includes charities, that earn some income and want to develop sustainable trading activities.

  • Has paid staff, with the majority of income from grants and service level agreements.
